Subzero has been making irresistible, award-winning ice cream for over 50 years, here’s some of our highlights…
In 1959 an adventurous young fellow called Michael Jenkins thought the world needed a different kind of ice cream company. In a small factory in Penygraig he set to work making his now famous ice cream.
Things had come a long way in 20 years, since Michael sold his first tub of his delicious vanilla ice cream. We were proud to win the much envied Challenge Cup for the best ice cream in the UK!
Now with Jenkins Jr (Kevin) involved in the company our ambitions grew, as did our factory! We had so many more customers that we needed to expand our empire to handle the demand!
50 years after Mike Jenkins scooped his first cone of vanilla, Elliot, the 3rd generation of ice cream makers joined the company. Along with fresh ideas, came a fresh brand and Subzero Ice Cream was born.
Following a succession of awards for our ice cream we opened the doors to our very own parlour! Situated right next door to our factory, our team serves 1000’s of people each month with over 60 of our famous flavours, incredible crepes, wondrous waffles and scrummy thick shakes.
After three very successfiul years in our purpose built ice cream parlour in the Rhondda, we did it again! This time in Caerphilly with our second parlour located in the vilage of Trethomas. What's the next chapter of Subzero's story going to be? We could be coming to a tow n near you.
